Every woman is unique and experiences the transition or menopause in her own way. Hormonal fluctuations can cause various problems. The complaints are often dismissed as “it's just part of the age”. Nonsense, there is a suitable solution for almost every client. With current knowledge and experience, “it's just part of the game” is out of date!

Ingrid-Kloesmeijer-Koopmans is a specialized nurse and transition consultant at Van Lennep Clinic. She provides the right guidance and helps you find the solution that suits you.

The start of the transition

Did you notice that recently, too? You are exercising and you notice that you are warmer than before. You're also sweating more than you used to. And the next morning, you feel stiff and your joints really hurt more than you're used to. At first, you think, that was a tough workout. But you'll notice it again at the next training session. Less fitness comes to mind. But that's actually not possible. Chances are that you are still dealing with the beginning of the transition.

Complaints during the transition

The transition can cause a lot of complaints. Complaints that are easy to live with, but also complaints that limit your daily functioning. Both physically and psychologically. Some examples include hot flashes, night sweats, poor sleep that makes you tired and sometimes irritable during the day. Having varying moods, excessive and irregular blood loss, dry eyes that make contact lenses intolerable. Joint problems, weight gain, sagging and your skin becoming drier. And I can go on like this for a while.

The symptoms can have so much influence on your daily functioning that you decide to see your doctor. After you've explained it, you get the answer: “it's part of the transition and will go away on its own”. This is also often true, but it does not mean that we would not be able to alleviate these complaints, so we can make this period a little more enjoyable.

Our transition consultant makes you feel better

I would love to be there for you in this area. I would like to work with you to see if there are options and/or advice that will make you feel better during this period in your life. You can make an appointment via the front office employees and, if necessary, we can have additional blood drawn. Give yourself this opportunity and I look forward to seeing you at my office hours.
