“Botox lips” is one of the most searched terms on the internet when it comes to cosmetics. If you type these words into Google, you'll see varying results of treated lips. It is therefore not surprising that we regularly receive questions from customers about a 'botox lip' treatment, even though it doesn't even exist in practice!
A lip simply cannot be injected with botox. Down with all the fables, it's time to get the facts back together!
Fact 1
Botox and fillers are both examples of injectables. Indeed, both are injected with a needle.
Fact 2
The shape and volume of the lips can be beautified with a filler consisting of hyaluronic acid.
Fact 3
What's the difference between botox and fillers?
Botox ensures that muscles relax, making dynamic wrinkles (caused by movement) less visible and slowly unfolding. The most popular treatment is the frown.
A filler is used to restore facial volume and beautify the face shape and contour. This reduces static wrinkles or lines and can strengthen contours. The clinic works with fillers consisting of hyaluronic acid or Sculptra polylactic acid.
Fact 4
With the exception of the red lips and the lip contour, botox can be used in the area around the mouth. For example, to treat drooping corners of the mouth, muscle tension on the chin that causes pits, or a gummy smile. Here, the goal is a decrease in excess muscle strength instead of gaining volume. If there is excessive mimicry, the pursing of the lips can also be made slightly less powerful and thus the lines less visible. This is often still supported by a Restylane Skin Booster treatment.
