Not a week goes by without my customers spotting a famous Dutchman, or Celeb who had a little too much to do about himself. “Ludy, what happened to Linda de Mol and Monique van de Ven, or to Estelle Cruijff's lips?” “Have you seen Sylvie Meis' face yet?”
The photos are obvious, too much of the same filler has been injected, or the face moves unnaturally. This non-aesthetic outcome gives many people a negative feeling about injectables. It makes clients afraid of being treated. By clearly explaining our approach, I actually reassure people.
During the intake and prior to the treatment, I think it's my job to provide as broad advice as possible. This gives you an end result that stays as close to yourself as possible. So it is not wise to continue with just botox, or to keep filling with a filler in the same place over and over again. The aging process simply takes place at several levels.
I often explain this on the basis of, for example, the renovation of a “house”. We can bring back the foundation with 'Sculptra'. This provides a long-lasting basis because the skin is stimulated to produce collagen. A local accent, such as the decreased volume on the cheekbone, lips, tear channel or corners of the mouth, can be restored with a hyaluronic acid filler. The finishing touch by spraying away fine lines can be done with a Restylane Skin Booster or Profhilo treatment. And of course, I am in favor of 'resetting' the frown, forehead lines and crow's feet with a botox every now and then.
That seems like a lot, but just like aging over the years, it is often not a single thing that prevents us from looking like we used to. Of course, the treatment plan can also be carried out in smaller steps instead of all at once. In our clinic, it is common to see people regularly for their next step in professional skin improvement, for example when they run out of vitamin A day cream or during one of our salon treatments. Because why not smartly combine that peeling, Hydrafacial, or microneedling treatment with a shot?
People often ask for the same treatment as last time because it was experienced as pleasant and safe. Trying something new means getting out of your own “comfort zone.” We always try to make it clear to our clients that it is precisely by combining well that the optimal result is achieved. In other words, a natural result without seeing that you have been treated...
