MD Codes, a term you may be reading or hearing more and more often when it comes to filler treatments. But what exactly does this mean and why is this the better approach? In this blog, I would like to tell you more about it.
MD Codes were developed by plastic surgeon Dr. Mauricio De Maio. This doctor and his team have trained me intensively at home and abroad in recent years. I really admire his vision and approach. The MD Codes originated from the 8-point lift, a technique he first introduced in 2010. It was the first time that a filler treatment was done by “strategically” combining different injection points. The goal was to achieve a non-surgical facelift without scarring and downtime. Subsequently, several MD Codes were devised in 2015. The face was thus divided into 3 areas (upper face, mid face, lower face) and a number of accurate locations were determined for each area to inject.
He can safely do a liquid facelift with 24 ml, something that does not happen very quickly in the Netherlands. Nevertheless, it is important to approach the entire face with the right volume if we want to tackle aging and regain that youthful appearance. In an earlier blog, I already talked about the different 'layers' of the skin. Aging simply doesn't come in one place and you stay closest to yourself if you combine techniques in the right way and let the volume be reduced in multiple places. An extensive customer selection and facial assessment are therefore very important.
After gaining more than 20 years of experience, Dr. De Maio has developed an ingenious system of injecting. MD codes are therefore a great tool for injecting the injections in such a way that they achieve maximum results.
What does this mean for you?
Previously (and still today), customers often came in with the wish to improve an often annoying area in their face and then with the request to also be treated where the actual “wrinkle” lies. The current trend and approach of the Van Lennep Clinic team is much more focused on the whole face. If you keep treating in one place over and over again, the facial balance will eventually change. The MD Codes, not treating in one specific place, but rather looking at the whole face and treating it in multiple areas.
Cards with “emotional properties”
Together with the MD Codes, Dr. de Maio also introduced the concept of “emotional properties”. Instead of just treating areas, we ask you to use a map to determine what you want to achieve with the treatment. This way, we can even better assess which treatment suits you best.
I look forward to making another suitable treatment plan especially for you this year! Will you come to my office hours?
Love, Ludy
