Fractional laser for collagen production
The Fractional laser is a more sophisticated version than the traditional laser. By means of a fractional laser treatment, laser beams are sent into the dermis, the layer below the epidermis. In this way, the fibroblasts in the dermis are stimulated to produce new collagen. Collagen ensures skin renewal and tightening. This way, the skin gets a natural lift via the fractional laser treatment. Irregularities are also being repaired. Just two or three weeks after the fractional laser treatment, younger-looking skin appears: the skin becomes firmer and looks fresher and smoother. Increased collagen production slows down the skin's aging process.

How does Fractional laser work?
The laser works fractionally, which means that a part of the skin is treated per laser pulse. So-called microbeams, or hole patterns, are made in the skin. Intact skin tissue remains between the holes. This intact skin helps the tiny holes heal faster by producing new skin cells. In this way, the treatment is safe and controlled and the skin recovers in a few days. At the surface of the skin, you will see small point-shaped scabs forming where the holes are made. The heat from the laser shrinks the tissue, so that the skin will be finer in structure and blood flow will be improved.

How many treatments do I need?
The amount of treatments required and the depth of treatment with the fractional laser depends on the result you want. The current state of your skin is also important for determining approximately how many laser treatments will be needed. On average, about 2-3 treatments are used, but each treatment improves skin. During an intake interview, the possibilities of the fractional laser for skin rejuvenation will be discussed with you.
How long does the treatment take?
The treatment takes an average of 60 minutes, based on a full-face treatment.
Is the treatment painful?
The treatment is not completely painless, but well tolerated. It can feel hot to burning. No anaesthetic is applied, so that we can properly monitor your skin reaction and you can indicate whether you can tolerate the heat in the skin. This reduces the risk of overtreatment.
I have a lot of smoker lines around the mouth, is the treatment appropriate?
Yes, it is precisely these fine lines that are reduced by this type of laser treatment.
My old acne scars are still visible, can this be improved with the fractional laser?
Yes, old acne scars can be greatly reduced.
Is there downtime after fractional laser treatment?
Depending on the depth of the treatment, there is more or less downtime. Light, medium or deep treatments are offered. Light: the skin shows a slightly grainy peeling effect, the recovery time is 2-4 days. Medium: The skin shows slight peeling and mild scabs, which gives a week of recovery time. Deep: the peeling and scabs are a bit thicker and more noticeable and this gives about 10 days of recovery time.
Can I ensure a quick recovery myself?
Van Lennep Kliniek recommends using calming products for faster and better skin recovery. UV protection is also indispensable and we give urgent advice to apply it daily in the period after treatment. Your therapist will inform you about aftercare.
Can I have the fractional laser treatment if I also have injectables?
Yes, this cannot and does not have a negative effect on previously undergone botox or filler treatments. If you have a permanent filler in the face, this area will have to be avoided during treatment.
